Leroy worked as a Clerk at Ward 11 Precinct 3 for me for many years and I viewed him as a friend and a great support. His smile infected everyone at the precinct, me most of all. I could always count on him to deal with voters with immense respect and care. He was patient and helpful. He was a precious addition to the City of Cambridge. How fortunate we all are to have known him, worked with him, laughed with him, and shared this journey with him. We all are the greater for having known him.

Dear Myrtle,
Awfully sorry to hear of LeRoy's demise. It was a pleasure to know you both over the past 25 years. I really appreciated our time together riding to and from Alliance activities. LeRoy loved Cambridge and I greatly enjoyed his stories about growing up in Cambridge as we picked up and delivered Alliance members attending meetings.
Mu sincerest condolences to you and your family. We will all miss him.

Under Mr Cragwell's distinctive leadership, the CAAHA organization benefited from his dedication, wisdom, and informed service from 1991-2012.
When changes in his health forced him to step down as Chairperson he continued to participate and be supportive as advisor, until his failing memory became a problem for him to navigate his automobile, and he stopped coming out.

Leroy as Chairman, supervised the CAAHA organization for ten years in accomplishing the following:

* The trail booklet was assembled, printed and circulated.
* The Resource Guide for Teachers (elementary and High schools), was assembled and printed
* The Clement Morgan plaque on Columbia Street was designed and installed at a dedication ceremony.
* CAAHA received an M.I.T. award of distinction for community service
* Dramatic portrayal of 2 characters from the trail at a Black History Month event ( Leroy portrayed one)
* Mt Auburn Cemetery event recognising presence of markers of African Americans at the cemetery.?
* Black History Month presentation by CAAHA for The Senior Center (Central Square)
* Newspaper reporter honored at a street naming ceremony in Harvard Square?
* CAAHA Logo was created.
* Preparatory Non-profit by-laws were drawn up.
* The establishment of the Susan Revaleon Green speaker series which hosted numerous notable literary dignitaries.
* The Cambridge Heroes/Sheroes 2012 Calendar was created.

Leroy would be greatly missed and appreciated for his valuable and dignified contribution to the Cambridge African American Heritage Trail and CAAHA during his careful handling of its affairs.
