Walter Montgomery Obituary

Walter Montgomery departed this life on July 15, 2020 at his residence in Cambridge, MA. Walter Montgomery was born on September 28th, 1926 to Charles and Mary Smith Montgomery. He grew up in Harlem, New York before moving to Cambridge, MA. Walter spent summers during his youth visiting the family farm in Scotland Neck, North Carolina. He attended grade school in NYC and High School at Rindge Tech. in Cambridge.

Walter worked for many years as a machinist. In his later years Walter worked as a Mail Clerk at Cambridge Savings Bank and as a Receptionist at Windsor House Assisted Living in Cambridge. Aside from his career pursuits, Walter had many talents and interests. He loved up-tempo Jazz and loved traveling, especially on a nice cruise to Bermuda.
Walter was an artist and an inventor. He created custom designed lamps including the basketball and clothes-hanger models. He created and spent many years fine-tuning a specially designed umbrella.
Walter studied and practiced the Muslim faith with the Nation of Islam and the United Nation of Islam (UNOI).
Walter could often be seen flying around Cambridge on his blue Scooter. Among his favorite stops were Whole Foods and the Middle East Restaurant.

Walter Smith Montgomery leaves to honor and cherish his memory: Daughters Linda, Laura, Sons Bruce, Kevin, Martin (Denise), Grand- Daughters Rhescha, Allise and Venus, Grand-Son Quentin, Great Grand- Daughter Anayah, Great Grand-Sons Jayden and Alexander-Walter. Niece Tammy (children Khari and Naija). Sister In-Law Carolyn (Kenny). Cousins Paulette, Tonya, Simeon, Morgan and Tina. Good friend from UNOI John Keys and many extended family members.

Walter was pre-deceased by his Beloved First Wife Gertrude, Inseparable Twin Brother Lawrence (aka Monty the Plumber), Dear Second Wife Ethel Scott and his Best Friend for over 60 years, Clifton ‘Cliff’ Gaul. 
Walter was an AMAZING MAN who was always there to listen, laugh and love! He will be greatly missed by all.
