The Reverend Doctor Florence Nottage-King, Phd. was born in Nassau, Bahamas on September 25, 1941. She was the daughter of the late John and Ophelia (Allen) Nottage.
Reverend King's family immigrated to the United States of America and she became a Naturalized Citizen who attended school in Cambridge.
In November 1961, Florence married her High school sweetheart, Paul A. King (deceased), at St. Bartholomew's Church in Cambridge, MA.
Paul and Florence were blessed with three children: Cheryl Anne King (deceased), Paula Marie King, and Pamela Arnelle King-Nigro.
The Rev. Dr. Florence King is an American Baptist Minister, a graduate of Andover-Newton Theological Seminary, and a consistent presence in many of the churches of Massachusetts where she has trained, preached and served as itinerant pastor.
Reverend King has received numerous awards and citations for her dedicated church and charitable work. She is a Board Member with the Mystic Valley A. B.C.D and serves as an Associate Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Medford and has pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha and proudly wears the pink and green colors.
Left to remember her living and mourn her passing are her daughters Paula and Pamela; former son-in-law Peter Nigro.
Three Grandchildren and 1 Grandchild in-law; Dr. Jessica and Greg Larose, Alexander and Teya Nigro. Two Great Grandchildren Willow and Gracyn.
In addition, she leaves her sisters and their husbands Reverend Doctor Thomas (Deceased) & Elizabeth Simmons and Darius & Lila Ann Reid and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will take place at the First Baptist Church in Medford on Saturday May 18th at 3:00 p.m.. The burial will be private.
