Rochenel Lovaincy Obituary

Rochenel Lovaincy, affectionately known as Rocky, 66, husband of Adeline Lovaincy of Malden, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018.

Rocky was born in Desdunes, Haiti to Fillette (Glaude) Lovaincy and Joseph Lovaincy Pompilus. He spent his early life growing up and attending school in Desdunes, Haiti.

He immigrated to the United States in early 1979 and lived in New Jersey then later moved to Massachusetts. He lived in Cambridge, Somerville, and Malden. Where he began working several manual labor jobs. Eventually finding ground in transportation, as a driver, teacher and mechanic for taxis and buses.

Rocky was dedicated to helping his native community in Haiti which earned him the nickname of Saint Marc. He viewed life as a gift after surviving cancer in 1984 and was grateful for each day that he could do something to help someone else. Rocky led the way for the Lovaincy family to come to the United States, and took it upon himself to house and assist each person as they navigated the transition to the U.S. He loved his children dearly and each of them can tell of a special time they had with him. He was blessed to live 34 years after his initial fight with cancer and to see each of his children become adults.
