ROBERT CARLOS CORBIN was born in St. Michael, Barbados, West Indies, on October 26, 1936. He was the eldest of eight children born to the late Noel Esworth Corbin and Marietta Ernesta (Sealey) Corbin, and was the husband of the late Amelia Cordelia (Goodridge) Corbin. Robert departed this life on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.Robert worked as a carpenter while living in Barbados. In late 1958, Robert emigrated to the United States, first arriving in Florida where he worked in the orange harvesting industry. In June 1959, he travelled to Boston, Massachusetts, and in 1960, Robert met Amelia C. Goodridge. Robert and Amelia subsequently married on October 5, 1963.In 1969, Robert and Amelia moved to Somerville, MA with their growing family. Robert was a hard worker who, in his earlier years, worked two jobs to support his family. He enjoyed caning chairs and took pride in utilizing his carpentry skills to maintain his home. Robert was forced off the ladder in 2016, but afterwards enjoyed instructing tradesmen how to work on his home. Robert was a great conversationalist, loved long (long) car rides, doing crossword puzzles, and watching the news.
Robert was a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) bus driver from April 1980 to September 2004, retiring after 24 years of service. Prior to working for the MBTA, Robert worked in the tire production industry while also working as a security guard.
Robert was predeceased by his brothers Anthony (“Tony”) Corbin and David Corbin. He leaves to mourn his passing: his daughters Denise R. Corbin, Jeanette Corbin O’Leary and husband Paul D. O’Leary, and Diane Corbin Adebayo and husband Adesanmi O. Adebayo; grandchildren: Brian D. Corbin, Kevin A. Corbin, Yasmene I. Corbin Brown, Boluwatife Corbin Adebayo, Oluwatobi Corbin Adebayo, and Toluwani Corbin Adebayo; siblings: Dennis Corbin, Verna Corbin Payne and husband Earl Payne, Grace Corbin, Roger Corbin and wife Sandra (King) Corbin, and Winslow Corbin; cousins Muriel Singleton and Daphne Lindsay; and a host of other relatives and friends.
