Pastor Herman Greene Obituary

Pastor Herman Lloyd Greene was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on April 22,1930.  He was the fourth of eight children born to Herman Hilton Greene and Mildred L. Greene.

He was raised in Cambridge, and attended the Roberts Grammar School, now known as the Fletcher Maynard Academy.

He graduated from Cambridge High & Latin School, now known as Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School.  Following graduation, he served in the Korean War as a Dental Assistant and was honorably discharged.

On May 4, 1957, he married Marcia U. Lovell at First Holiness Church, Cambridge, Massachusetts, and from that union was born two sons, Bishop Brian Craig Greene and Kevin Maurice Greene.

He was employed at Raytheon Company for thirty-five years, working in Waltham, Massachusetts, and later in Andover, Massachusetts, in the division that manufactured Patriot Missiles Systems, where he retired as a Manager.

Pastor Herman was a faithful member of Pentecostal Tabernacle and served in many capacities: Sunday School Teacher, Pianist, Soloist, and Choir Director.  Because of his love of music, he also served as Director of the Gospel Heralds and the New England District Choir.

Pastor Herman was installed as the Pastor of Pentecostal Tabernacle in January 1983. While serving as Pastor and working, Pastor Herman served in the Cambridge community. He was President of the Cambridge Black Pastors Alliance and a Board Member of the Margaret Fuller House Board of Directors.

He retired on April 22, 1995, his 65th birthday. As a gift, Pentecostal Tabernacle sent him and Mother Greene to Rome, Italy which was one of his heart’s desires.

Pastor Herman’s greatest allegiance was to the United Pentecostal Council of the Assemblies of God, Incorporated, where he served in various capacities including Secretary of the Franklin Estate Committee, General Secretary, Vice President, and National President. During his tenure, he traveled throughout the United States, the Caribbean and Africa to preach God’s Word.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his beloved wife of 63 years, Marcia U. Greene; his sons, Bishop Brian Craig Greene (Carmen) and Kevin Maurice Greene; granddaughters: Vanessa Michelle Greene, Jessica Nicole Greene; twin grandsons: Kevin Maurice Greene II and Kevon Michael Greene.
