Nan Ryce, 97 passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Nan was born in Tennessee on November 18, 1927, and together with her husband of 70 plus years enjoyed traveling, whether on road trips across the country or island hopping in the Caribbean. Nan was an avid reader, followed national tennis endlessly, and loved cooking and baking.
Mrs. Ryce was a longtime patron of St. James Episcopal Church in Somerville and provided organization and leadership for the church's annual yard sale that offered affordable clothing, furniture, and home goods to the community. Nan enjoyed Hosting Coffee Hour after service where all enjoyed her famous Rum Cake.
Nan was preceded by her husband, Arthur Ryce and daughter, Shirley Mckinney. Mrs. Ryce is survived by her two children, Barbara Guthrie and
Arthur P. Ryce; three grandchildren, Ericka Dorsey, Raymond Guthrie, Jr., and Patrice Ryce; six great grandchildren, Nelson and Houston Dorsey, Li and Zoe Guthrie and Reece and Marleigh Oglesby; one nephew, Leslie Ryce; and one niece, Marsha Neville.
