Juanita Waithe

Juanita Delmore (Daniels) Waithe, daughter of the late Vernon Daniels and Janette (Layne) Daniels, was born in Boston, Massachusetts on April 25, 1927. She was the eldest of three children from that union and was predeceased by her sister Norma (Daniels) Green, and her brother Albert Daniels.

Juanita attended Houghton Grammar School and Cambridge High and Latin School in Cambridge, MA. She and her siblings lost their parents at an early age, and because of this, they were taken in by a loving family, Mr. and Mrs. Lambert Moore of Cambridge.

She worked for the B.F. Goodrich Company and for the Bank of Boston until retirement. Juanita and her family lived in Cambridge for many years and, in the late 1960s, moved to Medford, MA (Sharon Street), and remained there for over 50 years. She was a faithful member of the Abundant Life Church (formerly Apostolic Pentecostal Church) for many years. She loved God and she loved her church family.

On April 5, 1947, Juanita was united in marriage to the late Lawrence L. Waithe Sr. From that union, four children were born: Leotha, Karen (deceased), Diane, and Lawrence Jr.

Juanita enjoyed puzzles and word search books, cooking (chicken and rice, macaroni and cheese, and potato salad, to name a few), music, watching her favorite TV game shows, and loved collecting magnets and knickknacks. She loved and enjoyed doing things for the family, especially for her six grandchildren.

On Monday, October 30, 2023, Juanita peacefully departed this life at Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge, MA, to enter her Heavenly home. She was 96 years of age at the time of her passing.

Juanita leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters: Leotha Y. Santos of Cambridge, MA, and Diane M. Gatlin (Charles) of Woburn, MA; her son, Lawrence L. Waithe Jr. (Deborah) of Plymouth, MA; six grandchildren: Aaron, Leticia, Ianiece, Jonathan, Alexandra, and Benjamin; and a host of family members and friends.
