IDA GERALDINE ARMSTRONG

Ida Geraldine Armstrong (nee Mason) was born in Barbados on August 28, 1931. Ida passed away at the age of 92 on February 15, 2024, after receiving long-term hospice care in the comfort of her home.                      

Ida immigrated to the United States in 1959 to join her husband, Thomas A. Armstrong, while he was an undergraduate student at Howard University, Washington, D.C.

Ida enjoyed visiting museums, monuments, and seeing the cherry blossoms in Washington D.C. with her daughters during summer vacation.

Ida and her family relocated to Newton, Massachusetts in August 1972.

 Ida treasured quality time and traditions with family and friends, making frequent trips to Barbados. She was also a creative seamstress, an avid baker, gardener, loved reading, writing, listening to music, playing the piano, and loved to entertain at home with family and friends.  Ida supported her husband in his academic journey and dental career as she worked in her husband’s dental office until his retirement.

Ida is predeceased by her loving husband Thomas and her devoted sister Clara Mason. She is survived by her two daughters Lorna C. Batson and Julia Pamela Goring, her granddaughter Serena C. Batson, her sons-in law, Clive Batson and Colin Goring, her sister Cleo McConney,

her brother in-law, William S. McConney, her nieces Angela McConney, Cavril Blackwood, Denise McConney, her nephew William R. McConney and her great niece, Brooke Blackwood.  Ida also leaves behind many extended family members and friends. 

Ida will be deeply missed by her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
