Gred Aiyawar Obituary

Gred Aiyawar (pronounced Iowa)

     Gred was born in Berlin, Germany in 1931. After her father was killed in WW2, she came to America at the age of 17 where she lived with an uncle in New Jersey. She was educated at Columbia University in NYC but left the school to work with her uncle. She later moved to Richmond, Virginia where she met her husband of 52 years, Rama. Here husband came to the University of Richmond from India on a scholarship where he studied to become a physicist.

     Rama later was recruited to Draper Labs at MIT for his knowledge as an Astrophysicist and Gred worked locally as an administrator for a cardiologist. She also helped to raise her 2 stepsons. Gred lost her husband a few years ago and still feels a great deal of pain related to the loss.

     Gred enjoys collecting stamps, walking, knitting and travel (especially to her home of Germany) and she hopes to get back there one day soon!

     Gred was born and raised in Germany. Emigrated in the U.S. at a very young age. She has been living here for 52 years. She has lived in Malden with her husband, where she worked as a medical secretary, run an EKG department.

     Gred has no kids, but she raised four stepsons. One of the stepsons, Vigya currently lives in New Hampshire. Gred studied English. Likes music, theater and is very active. She also enjoy walking, talking to people.
