Elora Clarke Obituary

Elora Clarke was born on May 9, 1918 in Christ Church, Barbados to Richard and Miriam (Holmes) Clarke. Her family, including the late Richard Jr., Audrey, and Darnell lived on Pilgrim Road, Christ Church.

When Elora came to the United States in 1937, she lived in New York and later moved to Massachusetts to join her immediate family. Elora was accepted into a nursing program at Westborough State Hospital and stayed there while she earned a nursing certification. For many years, Elora worked for the Commonwealth of MA, primarily at Boston State Hospital, in the surgical unit and later in the psychiatric unit.

Elora enjoyed visiting with family members, talking on the phone with friends near and far, and in the past, spending time with her beloved late sister Audrey Clarke and her late nephew, Rev. Dr. Romney Moseley. Elora was an avid reader which kept her mind sharp. She faithfully read her Bible and devotionals and prayed to her heavenly Father.

On July 4, 2022, Elora passed on to eternal life. She is survived by her nephew Michael (Sandra) Clarke of Arlington, MA, nephew Lance (Carol) Clarke of Huntington Station, NY, as well as 6 great nephews, 2 great nieces and several great, great nephews and nieces; late niece Cheryl Clarke Neal preceded her. Elora also leaves her cousin Jeffrey (Dolores) Scott and family, the Armstrong and Jones family of Barbados, the Darlington family, Rudy Morrison and family, friends Vivia McKoy, Lynn Dottin, and Kevin Murray, and long-time caregiver Wendy Tull. Blessed with long life, she made an impact on so many. She will be remembered well by all who were blessed to know her.
