Doretta was born in Claremont St. Ann Jamaica on June 22, 1940, to Violet and Bertram Phillips. She was the sixth of nine children, of which seven have pre-deceased her.
Doretta accepted the Lord at an early age in Jamaica and she would often talk about her first Sunday School lesson, which led to her teaching Sunday School classes which she really loved.
She always wore a smile, was loved and respected by many always had words of encouragement to give to everyone she knew.
Doretta migrated to the United States in 1990 to join her husband Arthur Ferguson (deceased 2001). She went on to complete Homecare/Home Health Aide courses since she was unable to continue as a dressmaker. She worked as a Home Health Aide until she had to retire due to health reasons.
Doretta was a dedicated Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. She will be greatly missed by her children Sonia, Ann Marie and Paula (Joy), nine grandchildren (one deceased), seven great- grandchildren, brother Locksley Phillips, Nieces, Nephews, other Relatives, Church Family and Friends.
Rest in peace Doretta.
We love you but God loves you best!
