Denise was born on July 9, 1952 in Boston to Walter Gaul and Priscilla (Dash) Gaul. Denise was raised in Cambridge and attended the Webster School and graduated from Cambridge High and Latin. She received an Associates Degree from Newbury Junior College and later a Bachelor's Degree from Daniel Webster College. She married in 1976 and moved to New Hampshire. In New Hampshire she worked for Montgomery Wards, Digital, PC Connections and Harrington Flowers.

Denise loved to travel. She was able to visit Paris, London, South Africa, Barbados, St. Thomas, Bermuda and various places throughout the continental USA. In her free time she enjoyed hanging out with her “girlfriends” as well as knitting and crocheting.
