David Blackman Obituary

David Clarke Blackman, II – 54 – Cambridge, Massachusetts

David Clarke Blackman, II, D-black, Dave, D, Uncle D, brother, friend…loved his family and friends and never missed an opportunity to share a laugh. His humor was his armor. Whether on the receiving end of an insult or getting ready to unleash a barrage of jokes at someone’s expense – he did so with love and laughter. Humor was his salvation and his refuge, and his laughter was contagious to everyone around.

David was born on July 9, 1968, and passed on September 3, 2022. He graduated from Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School and attended Northeastern University. His career spanned from healthcare to day trading.

David shared much of his life talking with his close friends about life’s ups and downs – much like the life of a day trader. He was kind, protective, loyal, and funny. One of the last things he wrote on his Facebook page was, “find me in the background – quiet, focused and paying attention.” Aside from the quiet part - that was David.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to David. He would thrive in a large gathering with music and laughter – or in solitude reading a good book or watching television. David had an uncanny ability to find happiness through the lives of those who were closest to him. He was proud of everyone’s accomplishments while trying to reach his own.

David is survived by his mother Mildred Pierce (Rudolph Pierce); brother Jason Blackman; stepsiblings Khari Pierce and Kristen Pierce-Vreeke; Aunts Mary Washington, Crystal Victorine, and Joyce Chandler; Uncle Robert D. Collins (Gladys Collins); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, September 24 at 3pm at A.J. Spears Funeral Home, 124 Western Avenue, Cambridge, MA followed by a private gathering for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in David’s name to the Big Brother Association of Eastern Massachusetts.
