Angel Nieves Obituary

With unimaginable sorrow, we share the heartbreaking loss of our beloved Angel Rafael Nieves III, known to those who loved him as Pupo. On January 14th, 2025,at just 21 years old, Angel’s life was tragically cut short, leaving behind a family and community forever changed by his absence. Though his time with us was far too brief, the love, laughter, and light he brought into our lives will never fade.

Angel was born on June 9, 2003, in Springfield, MA, and split his childhood between Springfield and Cambridge, MA. He attended King Open School and Peabody School, where he formed lifelong friendships, before continuing his education at Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School (CRLS). He also was a lover of sports and grew up playing football for the City of Cambridge. His journey was one of love, resilience, and deep connections with those who knew him best.

Above all else, Angel was a devoted son, a protective brother, and a proud uncle. He leaves behind his loving mother, Joanna Jimenez, and father, Angel Nieves. He was a beloved little brother to his sister Kiki and a guiding presence to his younger siblings Asia, Emanii, Kayden, Trinity, Sophia, & Serenity. On his father’s side, he was a caring brother to Angelina, Roberto, and Izrael Nieves. One of his greatest joys was becoming an uncle to his nephew Zayir, whom he adored beyond words. His bond with his grandmother, Joan Cruz, was unbreakable—she was his heart, and he was hers.

Angel’s spirit was one of kindness, humor, and unwavering loyalty. He had a way of making people feel seen, safe, and loved. Though he lived simply, his presence was powerful—he brought warmth to every space he entered. He found joy in music, video games, and sports, but his greatest happiness came from being with family, especially playing with his younger siblings. His laughter was contagious, his hugs reassuring, and his love unconditional.

To know Angel was to know a protector, a friend, and a soul too pure for this world. He touched countless lives, leaving behind memories that will be treasured forever. While our hearts are shattered, we find comfort in knowing that his love will continue to surround us in ways unseen.
