Robert Louis Heywood (Huck) life-long Cambridge resident passed away at Cambridge City Hospital Wednesday June 10, 2015 at 5:15 A.M. He leaves to mourn, his son Robert Mickle and grand-children Tyler, Tara and Zachary Mickle and devoted step children Ronnie McDuffy, Isaac McClary and Shiryce Byrd. Robert will also be truly missed by his siblings Pearl Rivers, Barbara Goosby, Diane Heywood, Kenneth Heywood, and Lee Pettie, his dear friend Joyce Mickle and a host of other relatives and friends. Robert was born and raised in Massachusetts where he attended Houghton School and Rindge Technical High. His very first job was at Carl’s Market in Cambridge, MA. In 1967 he was drafted in the Army where he became a chef and realized his passion for culinary arts. Robert later met and married Alice Canty. He also continued to be a hard worker, working as a chef for the National Security Administration and working with Developmentally Delayed adults at the Fernald State School.
In later years Robert married the love of his life, the late Mary Beeks; the two were joined in marriage on April 14, 2003.
To his family, Robert was a rock. No matter the circumstance he was the first one to offer a helping hand or a shoulder to cry on. His memory will live on in our hearts forever.
