Lena Ann Teixeira was born in New York City, the daughter of Raymond Silva Teixeira (deceased) of New Bedford, MA and Joyce Ann (nee Schwartz) Teixeira of Cincinnati, OH. She was born on April 28, 1972 and died on November 5, 2015.

In Lena’s early life, she grew up in Ravenswood Houses in Queens, where she attended LaGuardia Middle College High School. In 1988, she moved with her family to Hyannis, Massachusetts where she graduated from Barnstable High School. Lena earned an Associate Degree with Honors from Cape Cod Community College.  She earned a Medical Assistant Certificate from Bunker Hill College.

Lena especially loved her early Neubert Ballet classes at the Carnegie Hall studios and her AFS summer with her farm family in Iceland. Throughout her life, Lena had a knack for making others laugh, while showing off her amazing smile.

Lena was a wonderful mother to Jason and Seen, each of whom inherited her special qualities. Jason has his mother’s strength and good nature, while Seen has Lena’s inquisitiveness and her smile.

Beloved sister of Kim Silva Teixeira of Queens, New York and Dorothy Lydia Teixeira of Long Beach, California.

Beloved mother of Jason Darrell Nunes and Seen Raymond Carter. Partner of Myles Carter. Lena is survived by uncles David Schwartz of Cincinnati, Ohio, Ralph Teixeira of New Bedford, MA, and aunts Julia Teixeira of New Bedford, MA, aunts Tillyruth (Edward) Teixeira, and Roberta (Paul) Teixeira, Carol and Vicky Salley of Massachusetts, uncles Neal, James and aunt Charlene and uncle Don and aunt Madeline Salley of Georgia and scores of cousins. She is predeceased by Great Aunts Dorothy and Anna Harriet Schwartz of Lockport, NY, and aunt Doris and uncle Matthew Gonsalves of South Amboy, New Jersey.

Lena leaves behind several extended families; her Teixeira family and friends from Massachusetts; the loving Gonsalves family from South Amboy, New Jersey, the Royalty family of Bethel, Ohio, and the Ravenswood community of Long Island City, New York.

Over the years if you do an act of kindness, and think of Lena, she’ll be thinking of you.
