Welcome to the memorial page for

Curtis C. Thompson

Curtis Courtney Thompson was born on July 2, 1928 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Lillian Lenor Thompson and Everton Clairmont Johnson. Curtis is survived by siblings: Mrs. Jestina Richardson, Mrs. Ethel Hutson and Mrs. Cornelia Jarvis of Florida as well as Stanley and Owen Johnson of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Leonard Johnson of Mattapan, Massachusetts and Mrs. Norma Booker of Stoughton, Massachusetts. Curtis Thompson is mourned by his children, Cynthia Johnson, Thomas Stillwell, Carole Thompson, Cydnee Hines and Christion Thompson, 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, cousins, several dozen nieces and nephews along with lifelong friends who were considered part of his loving family. Curtis Thompson served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and then was honorably discharged in May of 1950. Curtis retired from The John Hancock Company in 2002 after serving many years as their event coordinator. A devoted member of St. Paul’s Church for over eighty years, Curtis enjoyed classical and traditional operas since he was a child. The soft-spoken, intelligent, refined gentleman never failed to touch those he came in contact with. Always one to pass on the life lessons he learned to anyone willing to listen, Curtis believed the power of forgiveness is the key to transformation. His gracious comportment and manner masked a deep humility, but it was Curtis’s faith in God that was his invincible anchor. It’s important to add, Curtis Thompson found the weather vane that sits on top of the old John Hancock building. He located the weather instrument and then supervised its installation. We can rest assured, Curtis Thompson will always be guiding our way. In lieu of a funeral service, the family of Curtis Thompson will be holding a memorial service on Saturday, April 8th at 11am at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 37 Bishop Allen Drive, Cambridge, MA 02139.
